Emmie and the happy box

I'm heading off to Singapore this afternoon. Emmie has been quite sad about me going, and she can't understand how I would choose to have a holiday without her.

I've explained it to her, and she knows the two of us have some fabulous adventures ahead of us (Currarong, Great Barrier Reef, Moree Races, Disneyland...omg) but she was still sad. And there were tears.

So...I made her, what I call, a Happy Box. It's actually a box I was keeping all her Disneyland favourite things in, but re-purposed it's her very special box of happiness to look at whenever she feels sad that I'm away. It is still mostly filled with Disney cards, tickets, autograph books and pins…but I think that what’s in there is less important than the sentiment. She knows that inside this box is lots and lots of happy.

She absolutely loved it. Super smiles all around. School drop off was a breeze. The happy box plus a calendar and daily phone calls (which Emmie requested) should keep my little lady happy for the next five days.
